Garden Supervisor Job Description
Imagine Englewood If Mission
Imagine Englewood If is a not-for-profit organization that works to empower and strengthen the Greater Englewood community by teaching local youth and their families healthy living, environmental awareness and positive communication.
Purpose of Position:
To educate youth and families from Englewood and surrounding communities, about community gardening and healthy living. This position will also educate youth and volunteers on the importance of community gardens, healthy eating, and the need to care for our environment.
Reporting to: Executive Director, Michelle Rashad
Hours: Seasonal (June - September) 15 hours/week
Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage Jean Carter-Hill Community Garden, ensuring it is planned, planted, weeded, fertilized, cleaned and yields a bountiful harvest.

Coordinate and manage youth working in the community garden.

Coordinate and manage volunteers and volunteer projects in the community garden.

Record/log garden maintenance and distribution of crops.

Conduct trainings on weeding, harvesting and tool safety.

Organize and maintain up to date inventory of tools and supplies in garden shed.

Provides additional landscaping to beautify the space.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the care and management of flowers and vegetables.

Develop and maintain relationships with relevant community partners.
Qualifications/Skills:

Demonstrable knowledge about planning and caring for a community garden.

Ability to engage, motivate and direct youth.

Ability to engage and organize volunteers.

Knowledge of the Englewood Community, with the ability to engage stakeholders.

Physical ability to work in a garden and lift up to 50 lbs.

Able to track and report on activities and respond to emails.
Schedule & Hourly Rate: This is a part-time seasonal position. Standard office hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, but this position requires flexibility to adjust schedule to work weekends as needed. $13-$15 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
